School starts at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 2:45 p.m. with morning drop-off available at 7:45 a.m. Students who do not ride the bus home must be picked up by 3 p.m unless they are enrolled in our after-school program.
Our after school program is available on all full school days. Students begin after-school care at 3 pm and must be picked up by 5:30 pm. Call the school for specifics on fees, and schedule.
For vacations and holidays, we generally follow the Dryden Central School district calendar. We schedule our own conference days, some of which coincide with DCS. Our classes end 7-10 days earlier than the Dryden School District. Click 2016/2017 CLCS Calendar to see the current calendar.
Busing is available to all students residing within a 15-mile radius of CLCS. Transportation is provided by the student’s home school district.
Classes range from 2 to 10 students each. Each classroom generally includes two grades. Middle school grades have a mixture of separate and combined classes for subjects such as science, math, and English. In the classroom, students are often grouped in smaller units to accommodate varying skill levels.
Yes! Our full-time PreK program introduces young children to the educational atmosphere of school and encourages social skill-building while still providing plenty of opportunities for fun. Prospective students must turn 4 years old by September 1 to be eligible for enrollment in the PreK program. If you are interested in Half-Time PreK, please contact the CLCS office.
We are very proud of our “school in a barn” which has a long and interesting history. There is an indoor gym/auditorium area, a lunch room, an art room, and an extensive library that continues to grow! In addition to individual classrooms and resource rooms, we also have a science laboratory and a kitchen facility for many fun and educational projects. Our grounds are very extensive and we have a large playground that accommodates the entire student body. Come see for yourself and you will agree that CLCS has a very welcoming atmosphere!
In each grade, children receive biblical training, which includes memory verses, collaborative projects, artwork, and group discussions. We also provide Bible lessons in assemblies with the whole student body.
We provide instruction in Spanish for PreK through Grade 8. Our Grade 8 Spanish students graduate CLCS with the equivalent of High School freshman Spanish.
We offer an accelerated math track to qualifying students. Other accelerated courses may be available on an individual basis.
All students in grades 3-8 receive technology instruction. There is access to tablets and computers for every student.
We currently do not do any standardized testing.
Most of our graduates attend high school in their respective school districts, while a few are home-schooled or attend private high schools.
Yes! We welcome volunteers who share our vision. Come see how rewarding it is to help the next generation learn and grow!
The emphasis of our discipline policy is on training and instruction, rather than on the administration of punitive actions. We believe that a healthy relationship between teachers and parents is crucial for an effective discipline policy that benefits the student.
