As the end of the academic year approaches at CLCS, one day is set aside for a whole school Field Day. Field Day activities are always based on our yearly theme. In 2016, our school theme was “Take Flight.” Students spent the year learning about birds, planning and planting school gardens, and talking about ways to responsibly steward the school property.
During Field Day 2016, we spent the day outside working on various environmental education projects. The students planted mini container gardens, navigated through a “wetland,” built a garden bench for one of the school gardens, painted garden rocks, and ran relay races. Everyone had a blast, even though the temperature was uncomfortably cold and windy!
During CLCS Field Day the seventh and eighth graders take on leadership roles, heading up teams that contain students from every grade level. Field Day is definitely a highlight of the school year at CLCS!
